Adding a 3rd Front Seat or Jumpseat to Your Promaster
When most people consider adding a third seat, they begin looking for exactly that - an independent third seat that goes between the two front seats. RAM did not offer a seat like that - they had a different plan entirely.
The Safe & Legal Option: 60-40 Split Bench
Instead of using a small center seat, Ram opted to have a combination Center and Passenger seat, commonly known as a 60-40 Split Bench. You can remove your existing passenger seat and replace it with the OEM ProMaster Passenger seat with no additional modifications. The best part is, all of the equipment is OEM Tested and approved so you can rest assured knowing you and those in the van are riding safely and legally. Available in Cloth and Vinyl.
Aftermarket ProMaster Jump Seats
Aftermarket manufacturers do offer an independent third seat - using seats that are not DOT Tested or approved is a risk that we advise against for liability reasons.

- Vinyl (Optional – Heavy-duty, easy-clean material often found in plumbing/HVAC fleet vans)
- Black Machined Leatherette (Available 2022+ only – A high-durability synthetic leather)

Seat Configuration Options
Standard Bucket Seats: 4-way manual adjustment (Driver and Passenger).
Driver Suspension Seat: A standalone option popular for long-haul delivery drivers. This seat sits on a mechanical suspension system with a weight-adjustment dial to dampen road bumps, similar to a semi-truck or bus seat.
Double Passenger Bench Seat: A fixed two-person bench seat for the passenger side, allowing for 3 occupants in the front row. Also known as "60-40 split bench".
Factory Swivel Seats (2022+): Added as a factory option to compete with the Transit/Sprinter RV market. These seats can rotate 180 degrees to face the cargo area.
RAM ProMaster City Interior Options
The Promaster City uses completely different seats from the Promaster Van.

Material Options
- Heavy-Duty Cloth (Standard on Tradesman / Base Wagon). A durable, rough-textured grey fabric.
- Premium Cloth (Standard on SLT). A softer, slightly more patterned fabric, often with different stitching.
