RAM Truck Seat Guide By Generation
1994 - 2002

Regular & Club Cab seats were relatively interchangeable. The Quad Cab featured integrated seatbelts for most 1999 - 2002 models.

  • 1995 - 2002 Ram 4500
2002 - 2006

These seats featured a round design with a foam that was notorious for breaking down prematurely.

  • 2003 - 2005 Ram 2500
  • 2003 - 2005 Ram 3500
  • 2003 - 2005 Ram 4500

Easy Upgrade: Any 2009-2018 seat will be a direct bolt-in with minor mods for the center jumpseat.

2006 - 2009

These seats featured a squared off design with a foam that was notorious for breaking down prematurely. YES Solutions created the hydrophobic cloth seating for this generation.

Easy Upgrade: Any 2009-2018 seat will be a direct bolt-in with minor mods for the center jumpseat.

2009 - 2012

2009 began the DS Ram generation which is still in production in 2025. The 2009 - 2012 MY Ram trucks did not offer airbags built into the seat.

  • 2010 - 2012 Ram 2500
  • 2010 - 2012 Ram 3500
  • 2010 - 2012 Ram 4500

Easy Upgrade: Any 2013-2018 seat will be a direct bolt-in, but the wiring will need to be addressed. Upgrading is relatively simple with only basic power/ground needed for most installs.
2013 - 2018

2013 featured a minor interior refresh for the DS Ram. Seat mounted SRS Airbags became standard on the non-commercial RAM trucks.

  • 2013 - 2018 Ram 4500

Watch Out For: Clearance seats from fleet trucks - these DO NOT have airbags in them and they will not work in regular Ram trucks. If you have a 1500, 2500, or 3500 you should have seat mounted airbags.

2019 - 2025 Ram 1500 Classic

2019, 2020, and 2021 Ram Classic models are, for all intents interior-related, just 2018 models. You can use the 2013 - 2018 model seats with no issue.

2022 & Newer Models offered new interior colors and fabrics.

2019+ Ram Heavy Duty (HD)

The 2019 and newer Ram Heavy Duty Trucks use a similar floor pan to the Ram DS, but the rest of the interior is significantly different.

Watch Out For: Seats from 4500 & 5500 models DO NOT have airbags in them and they will not work in 2500/3500.

The 2019 and newer Ram 1500 is fully redesigned on the new "DT" platform.

Ram DS Power Driver Seat Upgrades

The 2009-2018 Ram Tradesman was offered with Diesel Gray cloth with "Alloy Cloth" patterned inserts. This is the hexagons you see on the seat cloth.

Models equipped with power seats were Diesel Gray cloth, but had "Carbide Cloth" inserts.

Ram HD Missing Seats? CJT & CF8 Trim Codes

2019 - 2022 Ram HD

Fleet trucks came standard with rear and center seats until MY2018. For MY2019 the HD truck offered new "Seat Delete Options" in the buyer's guide - these were OPT-IN programs. 

2023 & Newer Ram Heavy Duty 

MY2023 introduced trim codes CJT and CF8 as standard equipment on all HD Rams. You now had to OPT-OUT of the seat delete programs.
