5th Gen S550 Mustang OEM Interior Options

Trim Levels

Base Trim (V6, EcoBoost, GT)
Standard cloth bucket seats. The S550 introduced a completely new seat frame architecture that sits lower in the vehicle for better headroom and driving position.

Power Adjustment: Even base models often feature a 6-way power driver's seat, though the passenger seat is typically manual.
Fabric: The standard cloth is a durable, woven material, typically in black or ceramic gray.

Premium Trim (EcoBoost, GT)
Leather upholstery with perforated inserts.

Heated & Cooled: The defining feature of the S550 Premium seat is the "Climate Controlled" functionality. These seats have distinct perforations in the center inserts to allow airflow from the internal blower motors.

Bullitt (2019-2020)
Based on the Premium GT layout. These seats are Ebony (Black) leather but feature distinct Green stitching to match the Highland Green exterior. They were available in both the standard "Comfort" style (Heated/Cooled) and the Recaro style.

Mach 1 (2021-2023)
Features a unique "Accent Stripe" design. The leather seats often have a horizontal stripe across the upper backrest (typically Orange or Silver) and unique heritage styling cues.

Shelby GT350 / GT350R (2015-2020)
Almost exclusively fitted with Recaro seats. These feature unique "Miko Suede" (a synthetic eco-friendly suede) inserts for high grip. The "R" models often feature red accent stitching.

Available Interior Colors

Core Colors

Ebony (Black): The standard black interior.
Ceramic (Grey): A two-tone look featuring very light grey (almost white) seat centers and door panels, contrasted with black carpets and dash tops.
Dark Saddle (Tan): A rich, dark brown/tan leather. This is significantly darker than the "Camel" or "Parchment" of previous generations.

Specialty & Accent Colors

Showstopper Red: A bright, vibrant red leather option available on Premium models.
Midnight Blue (2019-2020): A rare, deep blue leather option (often called "Grabber Blue" in internal codes, but visually dark).
Tan / Cocoa (2018+): Some facelift models introduced a "Safe & Smart" package or specific premium options that utilized a "Cocoa" or dark brown soft-touch door trim to match the Saddle seats.
Recaro Variations: The Recaro seats often feature color-keyed inserts (Blue, Red, or Grey) depending on the exterior color packages.

Recaro Sport Options

Airbags: All OEM S550 Recaro seats are equipped with factory side-impact airbags built into the outer bolsters.

Manual Adjustment: It is important to note that almost all factory Recaro seats in the S550 are manually adjustable, even in Premium trim cars.

No Heat/Cool: Factory Recaros generally do not retain the heating or cooling functions found in the standard Premium seats.

Upholstery: Available in Cloth (Base), Leather (Premium), or Leather/Alcantara (Shelby/Mach 1/Bullitt).

S550 Mustang OEM Interior Upgrades

Mustang OEM Heated & Cooled Seat Installation

The S550 Mustang introduced heated and cooled seats, but if your vehicle wasn't equipped with it from the factory you still have options. The heated and cooled seat is controlled by the BCM in the Premium model.

We offer a kit with a standalone control module built specifically for the Ford heated and cooled seats. At this time this modification is only available with the purchase of seats, as the installation must be done in house.

Installing S650 Mustang Seats In a S550

The floor pan of the S550 and S650 remained relatively unchanged, as did the standard issue seats. These seats will be a direct bolt-in, and the wiring appears to have stayed the same as well. There were some changes made to the upholstery for the S650, including new perforation patterns in the leather, so don't expect a perfect match. This swap makes the most sense if you're upgrading to the new S650 Recaro seats. The new S650 Recaro option offers a completely redesigned seat foam, and includes power for both driver and passenger seats!

Regardless of the S650 seats you choose, you may potentially have to swap over a few components to clear some codes. We recommend retaining the original Passenger Occupancy Sensor, Side Impact Airbags for this swap.
