5th Gen S550 Mustang OEM Interior Options

Trim Levels

Base Trim (EcoBoost & GT)
Standard cloth bucket seats. The S650 seat architecture utilizes the same frame rails and basic structure as the outgoing S550 platform, allowing for potential backward compatibility with modification.

Material: Upholstered in a high-quality woven cloth, typically in "Black Onyx."
Adjustment: Base models generally feature manual adjustments. A power driver's seat is optional or included in specific equipment groups (101A/301A).

Premium Trim (EcoBoost & GT)
The Premium trim for the S650 generation utilizes two distinct upholstery materials depending on the powertrain selected.

ActiveX™ (EcoBoost Premium): The standard seating material for EcoBoost Premium models is ActiveX, a proprietary synthetic material designed to be durable, stain-resistant, and temperature-stable. It features a uniform grain structure compared to traditional leather.
Leather-Trimmed (GT Premium): GT Premium models utilize genuine leather trimming on the main seating surfaces (inserts), while the bolsters and seatbacks utilize synthetic matching materials.
Heated & Cooled: Premium models continue to feature heated and ventilated seats. These functions are now controlled via the 13.2" center touchscreen interface rather than physical buttons on the dash.

Dark Horse Trim
The high-performance trim level serves as the successor to the Mach 1.

Standard Seats: Feature a unique "Deep Indigo" aesthetic. These seats are upholstered in Black Onyx leather/ActiveX with Bright Indigo Blue accent stitching.
Dinamica Suede: The center inserts utilize "Dinamica," a premium microfiber suede similar to Alcantara, designed to increase friction and grip for the driver.

Available Interior Colors

Core Colors

Black Onyx: Standard black interior.
Space Gray: A cool-toned medium grey.
Emberglo: A rich terracotta/tan color, significantly more vibrant than previous "Saddle" or "Parchment" tones.
Carmine Red: A deep red option available on Premium trims.

Trim-Exclusive Colors

Black w/ Blue Accents: Exclusive to the Dark Horse trim. Features Deep Indigo stitching and blue accents not available on standard GT or EcoBoost models.

Available Interior Materials

Cloth

The standard upholstery for Base EcoBoost and Base GT models. This is a durable, high-quality woven fabric designed for longevity. It typically features a textured center insert with solid woven bolsters.

ActiveX™

A high-end synthetic material that serves as the standard for EcoBoost Premium models. ActiveX is designed to be highly durable, stain-resistant, and easier to clean than traditional leather. It has a smooth, uniform grain and resists temperature extremes better than natural hides.

Leather

Found primarily on GT Premium models. These "Leather-Trimmed" seats feature genuine leather inserts (seating surfaces) combined with color-matched synthetic bolsters. Unlike ActiveX, the genuine leather portions will exhibit natural grain variations and soften/patina over time.

Leather/Alcantara (Dinamica)

Reserved for high-performance applications like the Dark Horse trim or models equipped with Recaro seats. This combination pairs leather (or ActiveX) bolsters with "Dinamica" suede center inserts. This suede-like material provides high friction to hold the driver in place during cornering and adds a premium, track-focused aesthetic.

Recaro Sport Options

Available on EcoBoost, GT, and Dark Horse trims.

Airbags: All OEM S650 Recaro seats retain factory side-impact airbags built into the outer bolsters.
Climate Control: Selection of the Recaro option removes the heated and cooled seat functionality found in the Premium trims.
Adjustment: Recaro seats are 4-way manually adjustable to reduce weight.
Styling: Dark Horse Recaros feature specific "Deep Indigo" blue bolsters and suede inserts not found on standard GT models.

S650 Mustang OEM Interior Upgrades

Mustang OEM Heated & Cooled Seat Installation

The S650 Mustang offered heated and cooled seats, but if your vehicle wasn't equipped with it from the factory you still have options. The heated and cooled seat is controlled by the BCM in the Premium model.

We offer a kit with a standalone control module built specifically for the Ford heated and cooled seats. At this time this modification is only available with the purchase of seats, as the installation must be done in house.
