Ordering factory Recaro sport seats in a 2015–2023 S550 Mustang always came with a massive catch: to get the aggressive track bolstering, Ford forced you to give up your power seat adjustments, heating, and air-conditioned seat cooling. Even if you bought a fully loaded GT Premium, Mach 1, Bullitt, or Shelby GT350/GT500, checking the Recaro box meant downgrading to manual sliders (4-way manual driver, 2-way manual passenger) and zero climate control. Worse yet, factory Recaro cars often lack the internal seat wiring required for Premium climate features.

Ebony Black Cloth or Leather: Found in Base and Premium EcoBoost/GT models, featuring solid Ebony upholstery with integrated harness pass-throughs and factory side-impact thorax airbags.
Color-Keyed Accent Stitching & Stripes (Premium / Mach 1 / Bullitt): Premium and special-edition S550 Recaros offered Ebony leather paired with Showstopper Red, Midnight Blue, Highland Green (Bullitt), or Mach 1 accent styling.
Ceramic / Dove Gray: High-contrast light gray leather/suede center inserts paired with black bolsters.
Shelby GT350 / GT350R & GT500 Exclusive Recaros: Built with high-friction Miko® synthetic suede center inserts to lock the driver in place under heavy lateral G-forces. The GT350R features signature red accent stitching and red Cobra embroidery, while the 2020–2022 GT500 features bold white leather bolster accents and embossed Cobras.

Sold over the counter through Ford Performance Parts, these black leather Recaro seats feature an embroidered "Ford Performance" logo on the upper seatback, integrated headrests, and OEM side airbags. However, just like the factory-installed options, Ford Performance S550 Recaros are strictly manual (4-way driver, 2-way passenger) and do not offer heating or cooling from Ford.

True Active Thermoelectric Cooling (TED) & Heating: Unlike 2024+ S650 seats that only use passive fans, 2015–2023 S550 Premium seats utilize Active Thermoelectric Cooling (Peltier TED modules) that refrigerate and heat the air before pushing it through the seat. Because factory Recaro foam is solid and blocks airflow, our team custom-channels the Recaro seat foam, installs perforated leather or perforated Miko® suede center inserts, and integrates factory Ford TED climate blowers and air ducts directly into the seat structure.
Direct Plug-and-Play Calibration: S550 Mustangs went through three different Occupancy Classification Sensor (OCS) and climate revisions: 2015–2017, 2018–2020, and 2021–2023. When we build your seats, we configure the internal wiring harness, TED modules, and passenger OCS sensor specifically for your Mustang's model year so they bolt in and plug right into your factory GT/EcoBoost Premium floor harness.

We offer these genuine Suede/Leather Shelby Recaros upgraded with OEM Power Adjustments on both the driver and passenger side, without the heating or cooling modifications, retaining their unperforated factory Miko® suede inserts.

Why You Should Never Put S650 (2024+) Recaros in an S550

While the 2024+ S650 shares the same physical floor pan bolt pattern as the S550, we professionally advise against installing S650 seats in an S550. The 2024+ uses an entirely different passenger Occupancy Sensor that is incompatible with the S550 Restraint Control Module. Sticking with genuine S550-architecture Recaros ensures 100% factory safety compliance and ice-cold thermoelectric seat cooling.
